Application form (application deadline Sept. 25, 2024) »

Once annually

Please first read “Rules Governing the Endowments of the Society”

The Hedda and John Forssman Foundation Fund is intended to support medical investigations, particularly in the fields of Pathology and Microbiology at the University of Lund. Grants are awarded as specified under the heading “Grants - Research Grants”. Established researchers (for instance, those who have a position as a professor, a university lecturer or have a position on a research council) are not given preference over young researchers.
New for this year is that you can not apply from both the "Endowments for the Natural Sciences, Medicine and Technology - Medicine" and "The Fund of the Hedda and John Forssman Foundation" but only from one of them.

Applications from Ph.D. students must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from the supervisor that provides information on the pace at which the work is progressing. This letter of recommendation should also give an evaluation of the applicant, and must be signed personally by the supervisor.

Applications from post-doctoral researchers must supply the following information: the type of position held, the duration of the appointment, the date when the appointment began and when it is to terminate, how the appointment is financed, the place of work, whether the post-doctoral position is at the same institution at which the doctorate was gained, whether the position is as a member of a research group (supply the name of the research group concerned), whether the position is as the leader of a research group. If the applicant’s position is as a member of a research group, then a letter of recommendation, written and personally signed by the group leader, must also be included. This should describe the applicant´s work and his/her contributions to the research being done. If the applicant is a leader of a research group, this must clearly be stated in the application.

A research programme (1-2 A4 pages) shall be included with the application, as well as a short curriculum vitae. Please note the information on publications provided under the heading “Advice for Making Applications”. An application for a research grant must include a clear specification of its intended use. Funds can be awarded for materials, laboratory animals, etc., which can be characterised as running costs, but they must be plainly specified. Applications lacking a clear specification for the requested funds will not be considered.

Applications must be registered no later than 25th of September. No stipends will be awarded to applicants who have not handed in the Final Report on work financed by grants previously received from the Society. NOTE! The "Two-year rule" applies! Grants received last year and not completed, do not need to be reported if you intend to apply this year.

The application forms available on our web pages must be used.
